NITC  Introduction

NIT’s are the colleges/Institutions which will provide the esteemed technical education for the students of India and abroad. This post helps the students to know about the NITC. Initially college name was Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC), later name of college the changed as NIT-Calicut.

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) was born in September 1961, in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, about 22 kilometers north-east of Calicut City. National Institute of Technology Calicut is one of the premier national institutions for technical education in India. NITC is one of India’s premier educational institutes, with a total commitment to quality and excellence in academics.

  

INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES

The Institute has well equipped library, computer centre, seminar halls, lecture hall complexes, various laboratories in different departments, workshops, hostels for accommodating about 3000 students, health care centre and adequate facilities for sports, games and co-curricular activities. The Institute has a state-of-the-art library consisting of digital library, “NALANDA” (Net work of Automated Library AND Archives) and a conventional library of books, journals and bound volumes. The main computer centre, which is open 24 hours a day, has all the relevant software packages and latest computers with internet facilities. To provide service to the campus residents, State Bank of India, Post Office, Canteen & Co-operative Store are also functioning in the campus.

NITC Programs

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC)  offers under graduate, post graduate and research programs for the students in a wide range of disciplines.

Undergraduate Programs 

NIT-Calicut offers 4 year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and 5 year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree program. The programs are designed for students who has passed +2 or an equivalent examination with science streams including Mathematics and students should be qualified in AIEEE examination. The Under Graduate degree programs are offered in the following engineering disciplines.

Admission Process

Under Graduate Program

The students willing to study B.Tech in any branch of engineering at NIT Calicut requires appearing in AIEEE entrance test. AIEEE is an all India engineering entrance examination which will be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

M.Tech Program

The admission to different M.Tech program is offered on the basis of following –

The Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree program is offered by all the departments of NIT Calicut. The duration of program is 4 semesters / 2 years. The students qualified in GATE – Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering is eligible to apply for M.Tech admission. GATE is an all India entrance examination which is conducted by IITs. Every year one IIT will conduct the GATE examination.

Master of Computer Applications
The Department of Computer Science of the Institute offers 60 seats for the students out of these, 30 seats are for graduate students from UP Universities and 30 seats for graduate students of other state Universities. The admission to MCA program is made on the basis of NIMCET. NIMCET is an all India entrance examination for admissions into MCA in NITs. NIMCET will conducted by NITs. Every year one NIT will conduct the NIMCET exam.

The department school of management studies MANIT offers MBA admission to the students on the basis of CAT score and group discussion and personal interview conducted by the MANIT officials.

Students who are going to take admissions into M.Sc program are made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the examination and interview conducted by the NITA.

 Placements in NITCalicut

The Institute provides regular guidance to Students regarding available job opportunities at different premier organizations in India and abroad by displaying organization profiles of respective organizations at conspicuous places of the Institute. It also arranges Campus Recruitment Program by inviting various organizations to recruit Students during each academic session. Career counselling programmes are also organised by inviting Experts from IIMs/IITs and various professionals and efforts are made to motivate young Engineers for Entrepreneurs Development and strengthen communication skills.
