JNTU Hyderabad Summer Training Program on Geospatial Technologies and Applications

JNTU Hyderabad invites applications for Summer Training Program on Geospatial Technologies and Applications from 18th June – 07th July, 2012 at JNTU Hyderabad. Interested students can refer this post for more details and apply. Last date for application is 11-06-2012. 

Centre for Environment, Institute of Science and Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad is going to organize “Summer Training Program on Geospatial Technologies and Applications” from 18th June to 07th July, 2012.




Course Details:

The entire course is designed in three modules. The course content of each of the three modules is as follows.





Module 1:

• Overview of Geospatial technology and geomatics technology




• Fundamentals of Remote Sensing




• Principles of Remote Sensing



• Remote Sensing Satellites and Sensors



• Visual image Interpretation Techniques



• Digital image processing techniques and software






Module 2:
• Fundamentals of GIS



• GIS data structures



• Spatial data analysis and modeling



• GIS data input, data sources and editing



• GIS data quality issues and advanced spatial data management



• Spatial environment data: existence, availability, access and use



• Introduction to GPS and DGPS technology



• Fundamentals of GPS signals and data



• GPS instrumentation issues






Module 3:

Applications of geospatial technologies



• Forestry mapping and studies



• Watershed mapping and studies



• Land use –land cover mapping and studies



• Mapping and study of water resources (surface and ground water)



• Crop acreage and yield estimation studies



• Marine and oceanographic studies



• Studying the effects of Earth quakes, Land slides, Tsunamis and other 
natural disasters




• Selection of sites for major civil engineering projects



• Planning for road, canal and pipeline alignment etc.,






Who Can Apply:
• The course is mainly targeted for the faculty members of engineering / science colleges, from various disciplines like civil engineering, environmental engineering, electronic and communication engineering, electrical and electronics, computer and information technology, environmental sciences, agriculture, geology, geography etc.





• The faculties having a minimum of 2 years teaching experience are eligible for applying for this course.



• Confirmation of eligible candidates will be on a fist come first served basis up to a maximum of 25 candidates only.






Registration:

• Completed registration forms duly forwarded by competent authorities should reach the Coordinator, latest by 11 June 2012.
