GATE 2013 Score as the 1st selection criterion

 
The GATE is conducted for admission into Masters Degree in IITs and IISc. However, the scenario has changed now as major companies are using it as a platform to identify the suitable engineers/researchers in various areas. 


GATE 2013 score is the first step in these companies to filter the candidates in their selection process. 

They have made it mandatory for the students to have GATE score in the concerned subject for which the companies are seeking to recruit.

Thus, the major companies do not only use GATE as an admission test but also as a means of recruitment option. 

The new recruitment process was started from 2012, the importance for GATE has increased and more number of students are expected to take the GATE. 

As of now 4 companies have issued notification to recruit engineer trainees through GATE score. The number of companies to use this selection process would rise keeping in view of the importance of GATE.



The Companies


  • BHEL: 500 Engineer Trainees in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Disciplines


  • Indian Oil: 225 Graduate Apprentice Engineers in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Information Technology, Electrical Engineering , Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering 


  • POWERGRID: Executive Trainees in Electrical, Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics and Power Systems Engineering Disciplines 


  • NTPC: Graduate Engineers to be inducted during the year 2013 in the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering


  • GAIL: Executive Trainees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Chemical Engineering 


  • HPCL: 250 Graduate Engineers in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics &Telecommunication and Instrumentation


  • BEL: 150 Graduate Engineers posts in Electronics & Communication, Engineering (EC), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Computer Science & Information Technology (CS) 




Essential Qualification: 


Full time B.E./ B.tech/ B.Sc (Engg) from recognized University/ Institute in respective engineering disciplines with Minimum 65% or Equivalent CGPA

OR


AMIE in respective engineering branches with Minimum 65% marks



Note: 

Companies also accept Graduation in other related engineering disciplines. For details, see complete notification.



Selection Process 


The Selection Process consists of GATE – 2013 score, Group Discussion & Personal Interview.

Eligible candidates will have to appear for the respective Engineering (EE) paper of GATE Exam – 2013 for which he/ she intends to apply. 

Candidates shall be short-listed for Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their score in GATE Exam - 2013 and as per the criteria decided by the Management.


Candidates who qualify in the Group Discussion & Personal Interview as per the criteria decided by the Management will only be adjudged suitable for empanelment. 

The Offer of Appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the requirement.



High Pay: 


Selected candidates will be placed in the high pay scale varying from company to company


  • Powergrid: During Training: Rs. 7 lakhs per annum and After Training: Rs 12.67 lakhs per annum

  • BHEL: Rs 8 Lakhs to Rs 9 Lakhs per annum

  • BEL: Rs.16400-3%-40500/ per month

  • NTPC: Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at a basic pay of Rs. 25650/-

  • HPCL: During Training: consolidated stipend of Rs. 33, 000 per month and After Training: Rs. 24,900 - 50,500 per month

  • GAIL: Pay scale of Rs.24900 - 50500/-


How to Apply

  1. Candidates have to register themselves and appear for GATE -2013 in respective Engineering Discipline.

  1. A separate notification with details regarding number of vacancy in each category, important dates related to submission of online application, date of interview etc. shall be available in the companies’ website.

  1. Candidates have to register themselves online at companies’ website with details of their GATE registration number and other required information.


Important GATE 2013 dates:


  • Last date for Submission of Online Application (website closure): 
  • 30 September 2012(23:00 Hrs)


  • Last date for the receipt of printed version of ONLINE Application at the respective zonal GATE Office: 08 October 2012

Powergrid: 
Last date for Online Registration: 8 Feb 2013


GAIL: Last date for GAIL Online submission: 15 Jan 2013


HPCL: Last date to apply online: 14/02/2013 


BHEL: On line Commencement of BHEL Online Registration: January 2013


BEL: Last date for submission of online application: Feb 14, 2013


NTPC: Last date for online registration of application: Dec 30, 2012


Indian Oil: Last date for applying: Feb 11, 2013
