The Wellcome Trust DBT India Early Career Fellowships - 2012 for Indian Researchers


The Wellcome Trust DBT India Alliance is an £ 80 million initiative funded equally by The Wellcome Trust, UK and Department of Biotechnology, India. The broad aim of the India Alliance is to capacity build the Indian scientific community with outstanding biomedical scientists. 


To achieve this we provide competitive Fellowships across the full spectrum of biomedical science: from fundamental biology through to clinical and public health research. 


Fellows are provided research related expenses, a competitive salary, as well as funds for international travel, collaborative visits and staff.

Postdoctoral research in the field of Biomedical for the local and international Research Position, 2012 India.This Fellowship supports excellent scientists who wish to undertake high-quality research and to establish themselves as independent researchers in an academic institution in India.Interested candidates can refer this post for more details and apply.



Scholarship Description: 

Support funds for research staff or large equipments are not typically provided. It is expected that applicants will choose appropriate laboratories/ environments where majority of the necessary equipment and facilities are already available. 


The total award for an Early Career Fellowship typically amounts to INR 1.5 crores. This includes the costs requested by the applicant as well as the set contributions by the India Alliance.



Eligibility:

The Candidates must be in the final year of your PhD studies or have no more than four years of postdoctoral research experience from the date of your PhD viva to the full application submission deadline. 


Time spent outside the research environment (i.e., career breaks) will be considered but has to be clearly mentioned in the application. You do not have to be an Indian national or of Indian origin. You need not have undertaken your PhD in India.
